How to Make a Keto Board

Charcuterie boards are one of my favorite ways to entertain because they’re flexible, beautiful, and easy to customize for almost any diet. If you’re following a low-carb lifestyle or hosting guests who are, a keto charcuterie board is a simple way to create something everyone can enjoy, without sacrificing flavor or presentation.

A keto board focuses on high-fat, low-carb ingredients like cheese, cured meats, nuts, and savory extras, all arranged in a way that feels indulgent and inviting. Whether you’re planning a party, putting together a quick appetizer, or building a snack board for the week, this guide will show you exactly how to create a keto-friendly charcuterie board that looks just as good as it tastes.

What is Keto (and Why Make a Keto Board)

The ketogenic (keto) diet is a low-carb, high-fat way of eating that encourages your body to burn fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. On a keto diet, carbs are kept very low while fats and moderate protein make up the majority of daily intake.

That’s what makes charcuterie boards such a great fit for keto. Many classic board ingredients—cheese, meats, olives, nuts, and pickles—are naturally low in carbs and high in fat, meaning very little modification is needed.

A keto charcuterie board allows you to:

  • Enjoy satisfying, flavorful foods while staying low-carb
  • Create a visually appealing spread without bread-heavy fillers
  • Easily swap in keto-friendly alternatives for crackers and sweets
  • Serve a crowd without making a separate “diet” dish

With the right ingredient choices, you can build a board that feels indulgent, balanced, and completely keto-friendly—perfect for entertaining or everyday snacking.

Choose Your Ingredients:

Cheeses: Include a variety of cheeses with different textures and flavors (soft, hard, aged, etc.). Most cheeses are high in fat and protein while being low in carbs, making them an excellent choice for a ketogenic diet.

Meats: Meats are naturally keto-friendly as they are primarily protein and fat with no or very few carbs. For this board, I used cured meats like salami or pepperoni.

Crackers: Have a variety of crackers with different flavors and textures. While traditional crackers and bread are high in carbs, you can opt for low-carb alternatives like keto crackers or add bread made from alternative flours like almond.

Fruits: Include fresh fruits like berries, grapes, and sliced apples. * Fruits: Fresh fruits like blackberries are lower in carbs compared to other fruits, making them a great option for this board.

Nuts: You can add any nuts like pecans, walnuts, or almonds. Nuts are generally low in carbs and high in healthy fats, making them a great keto snack.

Extras: Olives and pickles are often keto-friendly due to their low carb content.

How to Assemble this Keto Board

Select Your Board: Choose a wooden board or platter.

Arrange the Board: Start with the cheeses, then add the meats. Place the crackers and bread around the cheeses and meats. Fill in the gaps with fruits, nuts, and any extra items.

Add Visual Appeal: You can make salami roses by folding the meat to look like a rose. Adding small bowls for dips and spreads can also add a pop of color.
