There are many ways to cut strawberries and today I’m showing 5 easy and fast ways to cut strawberries. Scroll down to watch a video on exactly how to cut strawberries with these 5 methods.

#1 – The first method is to slice the strawberries from the top and leave on the stem. You can then spread out the strawberry slices. This is really pretty and putting a few of these sliced strawberries together on a board add a great decoration and is easy to eat.

#3 – The third method of how to cut strawberries is to cut the stem off and then slice the strawberries lengthwise. This is the easiest way to cut them in my opinion and you can lay them out in fans, rows, lines, etc on a board.

How to Choose the Best Strawberry Cut for Your Board

Not every strawberry cut works for every type of charcuterie board. Choosing the right style depends on the look you’re going for and how the board will be served.

  • For decorative boards or special occasions: Strawberry flowers and heart-shaped strawberries add instant visual interest and work beautifully as focal points.
  • For grazing boards: Sliced or lengthwise strawberries are easiest for guests to grab and eat.
  • For dessert or brunch boards: Fanned strawberries with the stem on look elegant and pair well with chocolate, whipped cream, or soft cheeses.

Mixing two or three cutting styles on one board keeps things visually interesting without feeling overdone.

How Many Strawberries to Use on a Charcuterie Board

As a general rule:

  • Small board (2–4 people): 6–10 strawberries
  • Medium board (6–8 people): 12–18 strawberries
  • Large board or grazing table: 20+ strawberries

Strawberries work best when tucked into gaps or clustered in small groups rather than spread evenly across the board.

Tips for Styling Strawberries on a Charcuterie Board

  • Place strawberries near soft cheeses, chocolate, or dips for easy pairing.
  • Use strawberries to fill empty spaces and add pops of red color.
  • Combine strawberries with other fruit like grapes, raspberries, or blueberries for contrast.
  • If making flowers or hearts, place them last so they stay fresh and hold their shape.

How to Prep Strawberries Ahead of Time

If you’re building your board in advance:

  • Wash and dry strawberries thoroughly.
  • Cut strawberries no more than 4–6 hours ahead for best texture.
  • Store cut strawberries in an airtight container lined with a paper towel in the refrigerator.
  • Add them to the board just before serving for the freshest look.

Final Tip

Strawberries are one of the easiest fruits to use creatively on a charcuterie board. A few simple cuts can instantly make your board look more polished and professional, even if everything else is store-bought.
