Ingredients for a Caprese Christmas Wreath

The best ingredients for your caprese Christmas wreath are small bite-size pieces of fresh Italian ingredients. Choose Christmas colors like red tomatoes and green basil to make your wreath extra festive. We also chose to add olives to our holiday charcuterie board for some extra colors and variety.

Below is a list you can use to make this Christmas charcuterie wreath:

  • 1 pint of red cherry tomatoes – choose fresh looking tomatoes
  • Mozzarella balls – the smaller cheese balls fit best on the standard toothpick or if you have longer toothpicks, you can use the medium sized mozzarella balls.
  • 1 jar of olives – choose your favorite olives!
  • 1 bunch of basil – a large bunch of basil gives you enough to put some basil leave on the each toothpick and use the basil as a base for the wreath
  • Salami for the meat flower (optional) – salami slices are the perfect ingredient to make a beautiful centerpiece for you caprese wreath

How to Assemble a Caprese Christmas Wreath

Assembling is this holiday wreath is quick and easy. Since most of the ingredients are already bite-sized, you don’t need to cut anything and can simply combine your ingredients and lay them out in a wreath shape.

Start by laying basil leaves in a wreath shape. A round charcuterie board is best, but you can also use a round plate or any charcuterie board.

Assemble your toothpicks. You can make them all the same or do a couple different patterns. Put 3 items on each tooth pick. Our first round of tooth picks included a cherry tomato, mozzarella ball and a basil leaf. Our middle row included an olive instead of the basil.

Lay the toothpicks in a radiating wreath shape and stack them on top of each other for a colorful and robust wreath.

There are two additional options for finishing off this caprese charcuterie board. We chose to add a salami meat rose to the center of our wreath, but you can also drizzle balsamic and olive oil and serve it up with some crackers.
