Salami Rose Tutorial

A rose Salami can be made in just a few minutes, so there is no need to make this food decoration in advance. Simple gather the ingredients for your board including sliced salami and a champagne flute. When choosing salami, you need at least 8 slices. Ideally more slices will give you a more robust salami rose. You can buy salami or sliced meats at most grocery stores, or order it online. Sliced meat also comes is a range of sizes – if you are working with very small salami slices, you will want to use a glass with a small circumference – the larger the salami, the larger the glass. You can also use a wine or water glass, but we like the size of the champagne flute.

Step 1

Separate your slices of salami and place the first slice over the top of the edge of the glass. Gently press the salami piece into a place. The salami should be folded in half over the rim of the glass.

Place the second piece of salami overlapping the first piece and press it into place gently.

Continue folding the pieces of salami over the glass going around in a circle.

Step 2

Continue pressing the salami slices in a circle around the glass until you have enough pieces. You will want to use a minimum of 8 slices, but more will give you a better rose. After all the pieces are in place, gently press the pieces into place.

Flip the glass upside down and gently press down to help the rose salami hold its place.

Lift the glass and see your beautiful salami rose! If you aren’t happy with the appearance, you can flip the rose back into the rim of the cup and redo the flower or add more salami. The flower will also stay together relatively well and you can move it around on the charcuterie board as needed.
