What is a Crudites Board?
A crudités board (pronounced “crew-dee-TAY”) is a beautiful platter of fresh, raw vegetables served with dips or spreads. It’s a healthier alternative to more traditional charcuterie boards and is perfect for parties, gatherings, or as an appetizer.
The word crudités comes from the French word “cru,” meaning raw. Traditionally, it refers to raw vegetables that are cut into bite-sized pieces.
There are so many other benefits to these boards including:
✔️ Healthy and light
✔️ Visually appealing
✔️ Great for all diets (vegan, gluten-free, keto-friendly)
✔️ Easy to customize
Ingredients for this Crudites Board
You can put together a crudites board with any veggies you have that can be eaten raw. Cut your veggies into bite sited pieces – generally in longer strips. For this board, I used:
- Multi-colored carrots
- Snap Peas
- Tomatoes
- Peppers
- Asparagus
- Broccoli
- Cucumbers
- Dip (I used a French onion dip, but you can use any favorite dip)
Other dips you can add include:
- Hummus
- Ranch dressing
- Spinach and artichoke dip
- Tzatziki
- Pesto dip
- Garlic aioli
- Olive tapenade
- Creamy blue cheese dip
How to Assemble a Crudites Charcuterie Board
To make this board, select a medium sized round board. You can use a bigger board if you have more ingredients, but I definitely prefer a round board for crudites.
Start by cutting the ingredients into longer strips of bite sized pieces.
Put your dip in a bowl and place the dip in the center of the charcuterie board. Surround the board with radiating ingredients, starting with the longest ingredients first and building up to the smallest ingredients.
You can also add garnish like edible flowers to your board.
Tips for Making a Crudites Board
To create an impressive board, start by selecting a mix of colors and textures, such as carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, radishes, and cauliflower. Prep vegetables by washing, trimming, and cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Include multiple dips like hummus, tzatziki, ranch, or pesto. Arrange the board with dips in small bowls and vegetables grouped by color for a balanced look. Add unique garnishes such as fresh herbs, olives, edible flowers, or nuts to elevate the board. Serve veggies chilled and dips at room temperature, and provide utensils like tongs or toothpicks for easy serving.
