Holiday’s are full or rich food so anytime I can find a recipe that is healthy and fun for the holidays I call that a win. This is a simple veggie tree board that is perfect for an afternoon snack or a Christmas appetizer. You can add other ingredients, but I kept this simple with just 3 veggies (all green and red). Ingredients for this Simple Veggie Tree Board
This board only takes a few ingredients. Choose veggies that are red and green and some type of dip.
Here’s what I used:
- Cucumbers (cut in slices)
- Celery (cut in slices)
- Cherry tomatoes
- Ranch Dressing
Other ingredients that would work include: peppers, olives, asparagus, carrots.

How to Assemble this Simple Veggie Tree Board
This board only takes a few minutes to put together. You will need a medium sized board (either round or rectangular). You will also need a small bowl. I also used a decorative mirror star but you can use a round bowl or a star shaped one.
Start by putting the dip in the bowl on the board.
I found it easiest to build this board up from the bottom laying out a row of cucumbers and then a row of celery. Make each layer smaller than the last.
Finish by adding cherry tomatoes on for the decorations on the tree. Serve immediately or chill until ready.
Tips for Serving and Storing This Veggie Tree Board
This board works great as a make-ahead appetizer. If you’re prepping it for a holiday party, you can slice the vegetables a few hours before serving. Store them in the refrigerator in airtight containers or covered bowls with a slightly damp paper towel to keep them crisp.
Wait to assemble the board until just before guests arrive so the veggies stay fresh. If you need to travel with it, wrap the board lightly in plastic wrap to keep everything in place, and keep the dip in a separate container to add when you’re ready to serve.
If you’re serving this to a crowd, consider setting out extra dip on the side and offer small plates or holiday cocktail napkins to make snacking easy
