What is an Artistic Charcuterie Board Edible Canvas?

When I went to put together this board, the first thing that stumped me was what to call it? A charcuterie art board? Edible food art? In then end I went with charcuterie board edible canvas, a bit of a mouthful but hey! These are basically butter or spreadable board made directly on a board of a plastic wrapped canvas. You can serve the board propped up on an easel with all the fun things to scrape off the cheese – this is perfect for an interactive cocktail party, and art show or something that you want something a little showy.

This board is not technically made with charcuterie – so maybe a better name is a articstic edible canvas board?

Ingredients for an Artistic Charcuterie Board Edible Canvas

The main ingredients you need for your board are a base, decorations, and something for scraping.

For the base, use some type of spreadable cheese. I used plain cream cheese and borsin cheese spread. You can use any cheese or other ingredient you can spread: chocolate, hummus, etc.

For the decorations, I used tomatoes, chives, lavender, and some edible flowers.

For the scraping items – I use cut pieces of bread but you could also use crackers or even veggies.

How to Assemble an an Artistic Charcuterie Board Edible Canvas

You will want to start with either a art canvas covered in plastic, or a small rectangular charcuterie board that can be put on an easel or art stand (I use art stands like this for my artwork so I ended up using something like this).

Next spread the cheese onto the board. You can use a spoon or an icing spreader.

Place your decorations on the board to create a scene. The easiest designs will resemble a garden or flowers, but hey get creative!

Place the canvas or board on the stand, and serve with bread or cheese.
