Ingredients for this 4th of July Board

You can make this board with anything red white and blue, but the best 4th of July boards are packed with summer flavors. For this board here’s exactly what we used:

  • Blueberries
  • Sliced cheddar Cheese (for the stars)
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Cheddar Cheese (cut into cubes and slices)
  • White crackers
  • Salami
  • Prosciutto

You will also want a medium sized charcuterie board preferably with edges for the blueberries don’t slide around. I love using the Dtocs sustainable palm leaf plates. These come in a number of sizes and are perfect for charcuterie boards, especially for summer picnics or anything outdoors.

To make this board you will also need a cookies cutter to cut the cheese slices into stars. I recommend getting a set for other boards as well.

How to Assemble this 4th of July Flag Charcuterie Board

Creating this patriotic board is simple and fun, just follow the steps below to bring the stars and stripes to life:

  1. Start with the Stars
In the upper left corner of your board, create a square of blueberries to represent the field of stars. Nestle them in tightly so they stay in place, especially if you’re using a tray with edges. Then place your cheddar cheese stars on top of the blueberries for that iconic look.
  2. Build the Stripes
Now, work from the top of the board down, alternating red and white ingredients to form stripes (you can do these stripes in any order)
    • Stripe 1 (Red): Strawberries, sliced in half
    • Stripe 2 (White): White crackers
    • Stripe 3 (Red): Raspberries
    • Stripe 4 (White): Cheddar cheese cubes or slices
    • Stripe 5 (Red): Salami
    • Stripe 6 (White): Prosciutto or more white crackers
  3. Add the Finishing Touches
Adjust the rows so they look even and balanced. If you’re transporting the board, keep it chilled and assembled just before serving for maximum freshness.

Tips for Serving Your 4th of July Flag Charcuterie Board

1. Keep it Cool
Since this board includes cheese and meats, keep it refrigerated until about 30 minutes before serving. If you’re outdoors, place the board over a tray of ice or serve in the shade to keep everything fresh longer.

2. Provide Small Plates and Toothpicks
Make it easy for guests to grab what they want without crowding the board. Offer small plates, cocktail napkins, and toothpicks or mini skewers.

3. Pre-Slice and Pre-Portion
Cut cheeses and meats ahead of time so everything is grab-and-go. Star-shaped cheese slices are festive but also practical for easy snacking.

4. Add a Few Spreads or Dips Nearby
Pair this board with small bowls of honey, mustard, or a creamy dip on the side. These little extras enhance the flavors and add variety.

5. Refresh as Needed
If you’re hosting a longer event, plan to refresh the board partway through. Have extra berries, crackers, or meats ready to go.

6. Keep It Kid-Friendly (or Not!)
Want to make it kid-friendly? Skip the stronger cheeses and spicy meats. Want to dress it up for adults? Add blue cheese crumbles, olives, or even a few chocolate-covered treats.
