How to Make this Baked-Goods Brunch Board

Start by choosing a large board or tray as your base—something with enough space to hold all the goodies without feeling overcrowded. I had to switch to a bigger board about half way through making this board.

The first step is to cook your pancakes and bacon but keep them warm.

Begin by placing your largest items first: stack the pancakes in a small pile, fan out the bacon nearby, and arrange your muffins (cut into quarters if large) to create visual texture and variety.

Next, fill in with baked treats like mini muffins, mini scones, and cookies (if using), spacing them around the board to keep things balanced. Add small bowls or jars of syrup and any other spreads or dips you’d like to include.

Now it’s time to bring in the color—use fresh fruits like strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, and grapes to brighten up the board and fill in the gaps. These also add a refreshing balance to the sweeter elements.

For a touch of savory, tuck in slices of salami or other cured meats, which complement the sweeter flavors and make the board feel more like a complete brunch.

Finally, step back and adjust your placement to create a mix of textures, colors, and heights. Don’t be afraid to layer or stack for a more dynamic look. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips for Serving a Brunch Board

Keep it Warm: Serve warm items like pancakes and bacon right before guests arrive to keep them fresh. You can also keep them in a low oven (around 200°F) until ready to place on the board.

Include Utensils: Add small tongs, serving forks, or cocktail picks to make it easy for guests to grab what they want without handling everything.

Offer Plates & Napkins: Since this is a meal-style board, set out small plates and plenty of napkins so guests can build their own breakfast plate.

Accommodate Dietary Needs: Include a few gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegetarian options if you’re hosting a group with varied diets.

Pair with Drinks: Round out your brunch by serving coffee, tea, juice, or even mimosas for a festive touch.

Prep Ahead: Many items like muffins, scones, and fruit can be prepped the night before to make assembly quick and stress-free in the morning.
