Ingredient for a Tropical Charcuterie Board

This board can be made from anything tropical, or you can purchase exactly what we used. I also recommend garnishing your board with fresh edible flowers. We are lucky enough to just harvest these at home, but you can also purchase them at a store. Here is what we used for this tropical board:

  • Kiwi
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Mango (2 types)
  • Pineapple
  • Star Fruit
  • Cactus Fruit
  • Coconut
  • Passion Fruit
  • Grapes
  • Edible Flowers
  • Fruit Dip (made with sugar, cream cheese, and blueberries)

If you are looking to make a more savory board without as much fruit, you might also consider:

  • Tropical Fruits: Pineapple, mango, papaya, kiwi, passion fruit, starfruit, coconut slices
  • Cheeses: Aged cheddar, Gouda, brie, cream cheese with pineapple, or a spicy pepper jack
  • Meats: Prosciutto, salami, smoked ham, or tropical-spiced jerky
  • Nuts: Macadamia nuts, cashews, coconut flakes
  • Crackers and Bread: Coconut-flavored crackers, pita chips, or tropical-flavored crostini
  • Dips and Spreads: Mango salsa, pineapple chutney, tropical hummus, or a coconut curry dip
  • Vegetables: Sliced bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots
  • Pickles and Olives: Pickled papaya, tropical pickled onions, or green olives
  • Sweets: Dark chocolate pieces, coconut macaroons, or tropical-flavored gummies
  • Garnishes: Fresh mint leaves, edible flowers, or lime wedges

How to Assemble a Tropical Charcuterie Board

The good news is that this is an easy board to assemble. The most time-consuming task is cutting the fruit. There are lots of creative ways to cut fruit. This video show a lot of creative ways to cut your fruit or you can simply slice it however you want. I made an effort to cut the fruit into different bite sized shapes and sizes. Keep in mind how you will be serving this board – will people use their fingers? toothpicks? Plates?

It’s fun to make one of the food items into a bowl for a fruit dip or as a bowl to hold some of the fruit. You will also want to pre-make your fruit dip or purchase it pre-made.

Place the tropical ingredients onto the board. Here are my favorite tips for adding interest to this board:

  • Keep fruit into rows or piles for bursts of color
  • space out colors, textures and sizes
  • Get creative by cutting the fruit into interesting shapes and using fruit for bowls
