Brie is one of the best types of cheese of a board. It’s creamy and delicious and pairs well with so many other ingredients. Almost every traditional charcuterie board I make has brie as a main component. Below you can see how to cut brie as well as 4 ways to style it on a board or a platter.

How to Cut Brie

I almost always cut brie in the same way. With the brie on a board simply cut across the cheese (the same way you would cut a pizza). Continue cutting until the slices are your preferred thickness. I always prefer cutting brie for a charcuterie board or cheese plate as it’s difficult to eat or cut on most boards.

4 Ways to Style Brie

Once you’ve cut your wedges/slices of brie cheese, it’s time to style your brie. Here are 4 ways to lay the brie out on a board.

Alternating Row of Brie

Alternate your brie wedges to form a row. It’s easy to make this a straight line or with a longer row of cheese you can make an arc or wavy line.

Layered Brie Row

Lay your wedges in an overlapping row. This is great to make a long row of cheese or to make a wavy or angled row. You can get creative with this. It works better if you cut your cheese wedges a little smallers.

Decorative Round of Brie

Cut your wedges of cheese and then lay them in a circle to make a pretty brie round. You don’t need all the wedges to make this shape so this works great if you want a few wedges for different designs.

The final way to style brie is to cut it into wedges. This is easy and takes just a few minutes to complete.

What to Pair with Brie Cheese

Brie cheese is wonderfully creamy and mild, making it a versatile centerpiece for any board or snack. Pair it with fresh fruits like crisp apples, juicy pears, or sweet grapes to balance its richness. Dried fruits such as figs, apricots, or dates add a concentrated sweetness that complements the cheese’s buttery texture. For a savory twist, try cured meats like prosciutto or salami, or nuts like almonds and walnuts for added crunch. Drizzle with honey or a touch of fruit preserves to elevate the flavor even further, and serve with crusty bread or crackers for the perfect bite. The combination of textures and flavors makes brie a crowd-pleasing favorite.
